Reducing our impact on our environment is something that is so important to Betty B Biscuit Boutique.

The waste that is created through a small business like ours, has weighed heavy on us. This is why we have decided to make it our mission to reduce ours as much as we can, while still providing premium quality boutique biscuits.

Are we perfect? Heck NO! But we are constantly looking for ways to keep us going in the right direction.

Here a some of the ways we are already trying to reduce our impact.

Our Bags Expand

We use high quality, home compostable, food grade bags to heat seal our product in.

Although this was a more expensive option for our business, we thought it was important to package our product in something we believe is kinder to our environment.

Before placing our bags in the compost, please cut into smaller pieces. This helps the bags to break down more efficiently.

Our Labels Expand

Finding labels with that also had compostable adhesive was a mission we were determined to complete.

It was all well and good to have compostable bags but we wanted all of our packaging to be able to be broken down at home.

Our Packaging Expand

We have chosen plain brown cardboard boxes which are fully recyclable to pack or biscuits.

To keep the biscuits safe on their journey to you, we pack the box with paper honeycomb wrap and seal the boxes with home compostable packing tape.

For large orders, we reuse big boxes. It may not be the prettiest way to send things but we think it is another step in the right direction.

Our Kitchen Expand

Being more sustainable in our kitchen is an ever evolving challenge!

We purchase as many supplies as we can in bulk and preferably in compostable or recyclable packaging.

Unfortunately, there is some waste, especially plastic packaging, that we are finding it hard to avoid. We stash any soft plastics to be recycled but we are by no means perfect in our waste reduction journey.

We are sticking to the old mantra, Reduce, Reuse, Recycle around here and will continue to look for ideas to get better!
